Mittens for Detroit is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Berkley that seeks to collect, purchase, and distribute new mittens and gloves to children, teens, and adults in need in Detroit and other underserved cities. The organization collects, counts, sorts, and packs mittens and gloves and sends them to a distribution network of nearly 100 agencies, nonprofits, schools, shelters, medical facilities, and other organizations. Founded in 2010, the nonprofit has collected and distributed more than 250 million new pairs of mittens and gloves.
