Founded by Detroit’s Second Grace United Methodist Church in 2001, Joy Southfield Community Development Corp. began operating a “mini clinic” for uninsured residents in the church.The clinic grew to support a diverse network of churches, faiths, community organizations, and foundations, enabling JSCDC to begin reducing health care disparities within the community. In time, Covenant Community Care united with JSCDC to provide primary health care at the Joy Southfield Health and Wellness Center.
