HOPE Shelters is a homeless shelter founded in Pontiac in 1998 that includes people who have bad backgrounds or sobriety issues. Case managers and sobriety coaches are on site to help guests make a plan of success. HOPE Shelters provides safe and judgment-free shelter, innovative programs, and public advocacy to end homelessness. In 1999, HOPE Shelters was the first low-barrier shelter in the area and remains one of very few in operation. In 2015, HOPE Shelters opened the first Recuperative Shelter in the state of Michigan and today is held as an example by National Healthcare for the Homeless.
