The mission of Plymouth Township’s First Step is to eliminate domestic and sexual violence cases and provide comprehensive support services to individuals and families impacted by these crimes. The organization’s work is aimed at creating peaceful families and safe communities. They offer programs to help people of different ages, backgrounds, and interests, maintain an emergency shelter and operate a 24-hour help line. First Step’s trained educators are available to present to health care professionals, law enforcement officials, members of the clergy and other faith-based leaders, community organizations, businesses, and professional associations on the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault. They also offer programs to educate children about safety and domestic violence. The programs are designed to reduce the impact of family violence on children. Of every donated dollar, 83 cents goes to First Step’s programs and services.
