Detroit-based Arts & Scraps uses recycled industrial scraps to help people of all ages and abilities think, create, and learn. It provides hands-on learning and creative experiences through programs at its facility and throughout southeast Michigan with an emphasis on STEM education through 12 different programs. It also brings materials and programming to students via its Scrap Mobile. The organization provides recycled materials for minimal cost to 3,300 organizations and classrooms each year, impacting 275,000 children while recycling 28 tons of material. Arts & Scraps also has a bulk-shopping store that sells recycled materials to the general public. Shoppers can fill large or small bags for $8 or $4.50, respectively, with most products in the store. Other products are sold individually. The organization accepts scrap donations from businesses, homes, and schools, as well as monetary donations. The store is operating with limited hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
