A Girl Like Me is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Southfield that provides support, education, and resources to girls, teens, teen moms, and young moms. The organization provides free diapers, wipes, baby milk, food, new and gently used baby items, clothing and shoes, and personal hygiene kits to those it serves. It also seeks to create a space where young women can learn how to prevent teenage pregnancy and be supported both with products and information on how to be a good mother should they become pregnant. The organization was founded by Tyra Moore, who became pregnant at age 15 and was rallied around by her family and friends to help her in motherhood. Now, she wants to do the same for others.
