Proctor Consulting & Investigations Group (PCIG) in Bloomfield Township has drafted many of the area’s top law enforcement and legal minds to help schools, police departments, municipalities, corporations, and other agencies address the growing need for security and crisis threat preparedness.

Longtime security consultants/investigators Doug Bucher and Mark Paliszewski are joined at PCIG with former Detroit Police Chief Ike McKinnon; Midland Police Chief Nicole Ford; and Andy Arena, former special agent in charge of the Detroit FBI.

PCIG, founded in 2013, will audit an agency’s policies and procedures, among other services, Proctor says. That could range from helping to plan for an active shooter to disaster response to weeding out a bad actor.
Both public and private organizations must navigate a host of risk management challenges, including mental health intervention, workplace violence, asset protection, cybersecurity, disaster response, crisis communications, and outdated emergency plans.
“In a world where one breach can destroy reputations, derail operations, and put people at risk, a strong security posture is a business’s most valuable asset,” Smelser says.
PCIG’s consultants collectively have more than 500 years of experience, and its clients include local law enforcement agencies, law firms, and Fortune 500 companies.
Proctor is a Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Air Force who spent more than four years as a police officer and an assistant to the chief, Region 3, of the Federal Protective Service in Washington, D.C. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he earned a degree in sociology and corrections with a minor in journalism in 1974.
A reporter, producer, and news anchor, Proctor has worked in five markets, including 33 years at WYXZ-7 in Detroit. For more than 19 years, Bill also has provided media training to business executives and other professionals across the country.
