Detroit-based full-service beverage distribution and service company Leonard’s Syrups has acquired Midwest Juice, headquartered in Grand Rapids with a facility in Livonia. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Leonard’s Syrups, a family-operated business for more than 60 years, specializes in artisan soda and shelf-stable fruit juices. The acquisition aligns with Leonard’s growth strategy and geographic footprint, especially with new health care customers across Michigan, according to the company.
Founded in 1998, Midwest Juice has grown into a top distributor of fountain drink systems that services primarily nursing facilities and restaurants. The company provides juice, soda, coffee, and thickened water across the Midwest. The founder of the company sold the business as a transition into retirement.
“After over 25 years of building this business, it was important for me to find a buyer who would value the relationships we’ve built and continue our tradition of service,” says Todd Stein, founder and owner of Midwest Juice.
“Leonard’s Syrups undoubtedly will be an excellent steward of Midwest Juice. I’m confident that Leonard’s Syrups will take great care of our employees and customers.”
Calder Capital, also in Grand Rapids, served as the sell-side mergers and acquisitions advisor to Midwest Juice.
