Woodward Throwbacks announced today it will open its first showroom in downtown Detroit called Throwbacks Home. It will be located at the Bedrock-owned 35 W. Grand River Ave. building, set just west of Woodward Avenue.

With a focus on sustainable design, the 1,500-square-foot showroom will feature one-of-a-kind furniture made in Detroit from reclaimed and recycled materials as well as carry a curated selection of designer homewares and furnishings. Throwbacks Home will open its doors in early November.

“The last few years we have really challenged ourselves on how materials can be used. And what ‘reclaimed’ furniture looks like,” says Bo Shepherd, co-founder of Woodward Throwbacks. “It’s exciting that we will be able to now show our original designs to a larger audience. And challenge the notice that reclaimed doesn’t have to be ‘rustic’ and it can be modern and refined.”

Woodward Throwbacks and now Throwbacks Home co-founders, Bo Shepherd and Kyle Dubay, have been featured for their work by brands and publications throughout the country including Architectural Digest, Google, and Carhartt.

These two have long wanted a showroom in downtown Detroit — a physical location separate from the warehouse and factory in Hamtramck, where clients can see and interact with the products. As the work is made from reclaimed materials mostly found in Detroit, the downtown will be made up primarily of their furniture collection pieces.

“Throwbacks Home will be a significant addition to downtown Detroit’s eclectic retail scene,” says Ivy Greaner, COO of Bedrock. “Bo and Kyle have created an adored brand that utilizes reclaimed Detroit materials which speaks to the vibrancy and resilience of both their products and our city. As the first showroom of its kind Downtown, we cannot think of a better duo to make it happen.”
