Former Michigan University basketball captain Jordan Morgan, and his wife, K.T. Maviglia-Morgan, Miss Michigan 2014, have won the first place TechTown Start Studio award for their online personal travel guide, On Arrival.
Morgan, who has played with nine professional basketball teams across six countries, and Maviglia-Morgan, created the company over their shared love of travel. On Arrival offers personalized guides for nearly every major city in the nation, as well as popular destinations overseas.
“We are taking orders for any city,” says Morgan. “We’ve done guides for Paris, Venice, Tahiti, and even Cheboygan and Northern Michigan vacationers. Our goal is to help people love travel more and stress about it less.”
The website is tailored to each traveler by identifying their destination and certain travel details such as the reason for travel, location, types of places to visit, and places to eat. The guides come in standard or deluxe size which include 10 and 20 recommendations respectively. A standard guide costs $20 and a deluxe guide costs $40.
Morgan states that each travel experience is unique to the specific traveler, thus the service offers as many questions as possible to understand the customer and what they expect from their trip. On Arrival considers cuisine, atmosphere, attractions, and drink preferences.
Maviglia-Morgan noted one aspect many others don’t think about is distance. “You can get a long list of recommendations for a city like Paris, but how far are you willing to travel? Many of those recommendations might not fit your trip then.”
On Arrival drives its customers to plan their trip once they have their guide, and the website provides them with everything they need, such as photos, reviews, reservation links, tickets, and even personal notes from Jordan and KT.
The couple, who recently returned home to Michigan after living in Venice, Italy while Morgan plays with Umana Reyer Venezia, is hoping this service will aid their fellow travel lovers to embrace new cultures and new experiences.
