Carvana, an e-commerce platform for buying and selling used cars, has opened its newest Car Vending Machine in Novi, the first in the state.

The eight-story brick-and-glass structure has a 27-vehicle capacity. Carvana says that in as little as five minutes, customers can shop from an inventory of more than 20,000 vehicles as well as finance, purchase, trade in, and schedule a pickup to take place as soon as the next day at the vending machine. Area customers also can choose touchless home delivery.

The vending machine is the 26th and newest in the country. It is located at 26890 Adell Center Drive (southwest corner of I-96 and Novi Road). Location hours are from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Vehicle pickup is free.

Customers can set appointments so they are the only customer in the vending machine. They will be greeted by a customer advocate and receive a commemorative, oversized Carvana coin to activate the automated vending process. Buyers can watch their vehicles descending through the structure.

In lieu of a test drive, buyers can use the car for a week to ensure it fits their needs and return it within those seven days. Carvana vehicles pass a 150-point inspection, must have no frame damage, and have never been in a reported accident. Features, imperfections, and updated information about open safety recalls are listed on every car’s vehicle description page.

Customers can also sell their current vehicles to Carvana and receive an offer in minutes without purchasing a vehicle.

“When we debuted New Way To Buy A Car in Detroit in 2017, we were proud to become a part of a community known for its automotive innovation,” says Ernie Garcia, founder and CEO of Carvana. “That was a big moment for us — at the time we didn’t know how big. Three years later, we’re continuing to contribute innovations to the Motor City with our signature Car Vending Machine.”

Other vending machines are located in Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, Arizona, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and California. Carvana was founded in 2012 and is based in Phoenix.
