Starting with the 2026 model year, the Dolby Atmos sound system will be an option across the entire line of Cadillac electric vehicles including the 2026 ESCALADE IQL, ESCALADE IQ, LYRIQ-V, OPTIQ, and VISTIQ. Select 2025 models also will receive Dolby Atmos through over-the-air software updates.

San Francisco-based Dolby Laboratories say Dolby Atmos is “a completely new way to create and experience music that delivers artistic expression at its fullest capacity.”

“Whether you are listening to music to pass the time on a long commute or sharing a special moment on a family road trip, music has the power to transform mundane moments into something remarkable,” says John Couling, senior vice president of entertainment at Dolby Laboratories. “Cadillac’s lineup of Dolby Atmos equipped vehicles is re-imagining the driving experience, ensuring every journey is unforgettable no matter where it takes you.”

The move to bring Dolby Atmos to Cadillac’s EV lineup comes at a time when people are spending more time than ever in their cars. According to recent reports from the Federal Highway Administration, drivers in the United States collectively drive more than 3 trillion miles a year. This time on the road coincides with growing demand among consumers for higher quality, immersive experiences, according to a recent Dolby survey. The results found that nearly 90 percent of music streaming subscribers agreed enhanced audio quality is a “must-have” feature, with more than half strongly agreeing.

“Innovation is at the core of the Cadillac brand, and our collaboration with Dolby marks a transformative shift in how in-car entertainment elevates the driving experience,” says John Cockburn, chief engineer at Cadillac. “Together, we are taking audio to new heights by ensuring the music experience stays true to the artist’s original vision, delivering a sound experience that makes consumers feel like they are in the music studio with them.”

The Cadillac Formula 1 Team, backed by TWG Motorsports and General Motors Co., has received final approval to join the FIA Formula One World Championship grid in March 2026.

FIA and Formula One management announced that the Cadillac Formula 1 Team has met its requirements to join the existing 10 teams starting next year.

“Today marks a transformative moment, and I am proud to lead the federation in this progressive step for the championship,” says Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of FIA. “The FIA Formula One Championship’s expansion to an 11th team in 2026 is a milestone. GM/Cadillac brings fresh energy, aligning with the new FIA 2026 regulations and ushering in an exciting era for the sport.”

This announcement follows confirmation that long-time motorsports and Formula 1 team executive Graeme Lowdon will serve as Team Principal of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team. Industry veteran Russ O’Blenes has been named CEO of TWG GM Performance Power Units, a new company that will put Cadillac on the future path to being a “full works” team — building Formula 1 chassis and power units.

“We’re thrilled the Cadillac Formula 1 Team is official, as the team has been accelerating its work,” says Mark Reuss, president of GM. “We’re incredibly grateful for the support from the FIA and Formula One Management leadership for us and for our collaboration with TWG. The excitement only grows as we get closer to showcasing GM’s engineering expertise on the prestigious global stage of F1.”

Since the bid to join Formula 1 was announced in January 2023, Cadillac says TWG Motorsports has assembled a team of more than 300 people working on aerodynamics, chassis and component development, software, and vehicle dynamics simulation. Development work to join the grid in 2026 has continued at pace with operational wind-tunnel models, parts production and performance testing strongly underway. The team has operations in Warren, Indianapolis, Ind.; Charlotte, N.C.; and Silverstone, England.
