The lifestyle brand Born In Detroit today announced it is extending its lease in downtown Detroit and introducing a restaurant concept at Detroit Metro Airport in Romulus.
The central business district storefront, located at 1275 Woodward (corner of Grand River Avenue), which is open Tuesday-Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will now remain open until December 2025.
The store offers exclusive apparel designs and collections in a chic lounge experience, created in partnership with Gardner White in Warren. It also hosts a series of events, including live radio broadcasts, podcast tapings, happy hours, and private catered events.
At Detroit Metro Airport, the brand is launching a new restaurant concept, Born In Detroit Kitchen + Bar, inside the McNamara Terminal. The new restaurant implementation and opening date will be announced soon.
The new restaurant will feature a curated menu that showcases the city’s diverse and vibrant food culture, offering travelers an authentic Detroit dining experience. The space also will feature Born In Detroit retail items and be co-branded with Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company.
Born In Detroit was brought to life in 2020 by two sets of brothers, Michael and Anthony Tomey, and George and Alex Bourkoulas, along with their friend, Michael “Mikey” Shumaker.
“We are incredibly excited about these developments,” says Anthony Tomey, co-owner of Born In Detroit. “Extending our lease in Detroit allows us to continue being a part of this amazing community, while our new restaurant at Detroit Metro Airport gives us the opportunity to share the flavors of Detroit with a global audience.”
