BorgWarner Inc. in Auburn Hills has completed its acquisition of the Electric Hybrid Systems (EHS) business segment of Eldor Corp., an Italian company with offices in Livonia.

The acquisition was done to complement BorgWarner’s ePropulsion portfolio, especially as it relates to expansion in high-voltage power electronics beyond the inverter. BorgWarner has agreed to acquire the Electric Hybrid Systems (EHS) business segment of Eldor for about $81 million last June.

Headquartered in Italy, Eldor’s EHS segment includes on-board chargers (OBCs), DC/DC converters, and integrated high voltage boxes, all of which are expected to complement BorgWarner’s existing product portfolio.

Eldor technology includes compact and efficient 400V and 800V on-board chargers that are compatible with the variety of regional grid configurations found globally. The purchase also was made to bring “innovative and cost-effective” high-frequency DC/DC converters to the BorgWarner portfolio. Company executives expect that Eldor’s EHS business will generate approximately $275 million in 2027.
