William S. Taubman Named President of Taubman Co.

William S. Taubman today was named president of Bloomfield Hills-based The Taubman Co. He will manage the company’s development, operations, leasing, and strategic communications.

Taubman will add this position to his current role with the company as COO. He will still report to Robert S. Taubman, chairman and CEO.

“Billy grew up in our business and is a creative, extremely well-respected thought leader within the retail real estate industry,” Robert S. Taubman says.

Before becoming COO in 2005, William S. Taubman was executive vice president and vice president of development and acquisitions. He sat on the company’s board from 2000 to 2018.

Prior to joining Taubman, William S. Taubman was a financial analyst at Oppenheimer and Co. Inc. in New York City.

William S. Taubman serves on the boards of the Urban Land Institute, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, and New York’s Museum of Arts and Design. He has held chairman roles on racial justice group New Detroit and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

He holds degrees from Brown University and Cambridge University.

The Taubman Co. manages and leases 26 regional, super-regional, and outlet malls in the U.S. and Asia, including Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi and Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills.
