Six Metro Detroit Based Merrill Advisors Win Top Honors

Kristina Abro, Nicole Holmes

Merrill advisors Kristina Abro, Nicole Holmes, Jennifer Jennings, Nancy Salvia, Melissa Spickler and Sara Wohl were named to Forbes 2025 “Top Women Wealth Advisors Best in State” list.

Additionally, Spickler was also named to Forbes “America’s Top Women Wealth Advisors” list.

Abro, based in Auburn Hills, joined Merrill in 2012, upon graduating from Central Michigan University with a degree in economics from the School of Business. She works with clients to help them identify and meet their unique financial goals, with an aim at simplifying their complex financial lives.

Jennifer Jennings, Nancy Salvia

Holmes, based in Bloomfield Hills, joined Merrill in 2002 after graduating from the University of Michigan. She works with high net-worth clients on estate, wealth and tax planning strategies and holds the Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designations.

Jennings, based in Farmington Hills, joined Merrill in 1996, in San Jose, Calif. After moving to Michigan, she founded and led the Michigan Women’s Initiative, which facilitated educational seminars for clients and roundtables for female senior executives and business owners. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

Salvia, based in Auburn Hills, joined Merrill in 2007. She holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, CRPC designation. A long-time resident of Rochester, Salvia currently is serving as the city’s mayor. She is president of Merrill Detroit Women’s Exchange and National Marketing Executive. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and an MBA from the University of Detroit Mercy.

Melissa Spickler, Sara Wohl

Spickler, based in Bloomfield Hills, joined Merrill in 1980, and holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation and also is a qualified portfolio manager. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in criminal justice.

Wohl, based in Ann Arbor, joined Merrill in 2011. She is a Certified Financial Planner and a Chartered Retirement Planning counselor. Wohl also is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst; Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy; and has the Certified Sustainable Responsible and Impact Investment Counselor designations. She graduated from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and also earned a Master of Science in finance and an MBA from Walsh College.
