Playworks Michigan, a nonprofit organization based in Detroit, has named Vincent Kirkwood as the organization’s new executive director.

Kirkwood joins the nonprofit to replace Angela Rogensues, who left the organization in 2020.  The Michigan region was led by associate directors Matt Matthews and Whitney Bunn through the pandemic.

Kirkwood brings to Playworks an extensive background in sports administration, management, marketing and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Kirkwood served for more than a decade with MRA Mobile Experiential in Madison Heights, most recently as senior director of diversity and inclusion, sports, and consumer events.

“I am truly looking forward to advancing the mission of this organization, which dedicates itself to providing our children with the consistency and support they need to thrive at school and in their day-to-day lives,” says Kirkwood.

“At the same time I plan to strengthen existing partner relationships while fostering and cultivating new local and national collaborations — all aimed at meeting and surpassing  fundraising goals.”

He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Wayne State University and is working towards a doctorate in sports leadership from Concordia University – Chicago.
