Mission Point Owner Honored as Top Business Leader

Dennert O. Ware, owner of Mackinac Island’s Mission Point, has received recognition for being a 2016 Business Legend of Texas and will be inducted in the Texas Business Hall of Fame, which recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of outstanding Texas business leaders.

Ware, born in Kalamazoo and now lives in San Antonio, purchased Mission Point in December 2014, and is currently executing a multi-million-dollar, multi-year renovation of the property. The Ware family also owns Silver Birches on Mackinac Island, a historic, Adirondack style lodge currently under restoration.

Additionally, Ware is the executive chairman of the board of CeloNova Biosciences Inc. In his career, he has served as the president and CEO of Kinetic Concepts Inc., president and CEO of Boehringer Mannheim Corp., and president and CEO of Roche Diagnostics Corp.

Ware has served as the chairman of Symphony Society of San Antonio and currently sits on many boards including Texas Military Institute, Christel House and the Tobin Center for Performing Arts. Ware was a recipient of the Colonel W.T. Bondurant Sr. Distinguished Humanitarian Award presented by The Alumni Council of San Antonio Academy of Texas.

Ware holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Purdue University and an Master of Business Administration from Indiana University.
