Merrill advisors David Gardiner and John Rochow, both based in Bloomfield Hills, were named to Forbes 2025 “Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors Best-in-State” list.

Gardiner began his Merrill career in 2012. As one of five partners on his team, Gardiner provides strategic direction and investment policy for the team. He utilizes his knowledge, experience, and discernment to develop investment portfolios that anticipate and adapt to diverse market conditions.

Gardiner earned his undergraduate degree in finance and economics from Northwood University. He is a certified financial planner, and he holds the certified investment management analyst designation.

When he isn’t helping his clients, Gardiner enjoys mentoring, volunteering and giving back to the community. He serves on several community boards, including the Archdiocese of Detroit Priests’ Pension Board and the Catholic Youth Organization. Gardiner and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Lake Orion and enjoy spending time with their two children Annemarie and William.

Rochow
John Rochow

Rochow, also based in Bloomfield Hills, has worked at Merrill for 16 years, since graduating from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in 2009. This is his third straight year being named to Forbes’ “Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors Best-in-State” list.

Rochow has extensive experience in wealth management for high-net worth individuals, family offices, and institutions. He holds the certified private wealth advisor designation and the sports and entertainment accredited wealth management advisor designation.

Rochow lives in Birmingham and has previously served on the board of the Detroit Institute of Arts Founders Junior Council.
