Blueflite in Brighton was founded by Frank Noppel and James McClearen in 2018 to develop electric VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) drone-based logistics and delivery solutions.
The company’s patented and all-electric drone design promises advanced maneuverability and is built to meet the demands of commercial operations.

Balancing weight, strength, and design flexibility is a significant challenge for drone manufacturers, according to Blueflite. Traditional manufacturing techniques like carbon fiber layup are time-consuming and limit design adaptability, say Noppel and McClearen.
Additionally, parts created using other 3-D printing technologies “can suffer from brittleness, excess weight, or visible layering, failing to meet the high standards required for UAV performance and aesthetics.”
By integrating HP’s Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology into its manufacturing process, Blueflite has overcome these challenges, they say.
MJF’s material properties, advanced surface finishes, and precision have enabled Blueflite to “revolutionize” UAV design. Each unit features up to 48 MJF-printed parts, including exterior panels, landing gear, and battery casings featuring lightweight lattice structures.
Blueflite’s drone-based platform is built to scale in both size and quantity, the company says. Its proprietary logistics system’s digital network is designed to work with existing logistic solutions.
