The Golf Association of Michigan Foundation, a nonprofit based in Farmington Hills, operates Youth on Course Michigan, which lets those aged 6-18 play golf for $5 or less at partner facilities. More than 7,000 youth members are able to play at more than 100 golf courses across the state. The program also offers career preparation, leadership, and scholarship programs. The foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Golf Association of Michigan, the governing body for amateur golf in the state. The association was founded in 1919 and provides membership to more than 60,000 golfers and more than 400 golf courses, conducts 30 amateur championships, and oversees 16 United States Golf Association qualifying events.
