The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is a not-for-profit social services organization for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. While all of its facilities have been closed to help minimize the spread of COVID-19, YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit continues to provide childcare and day camps in support of families returning to work. The organization is distributing meals to children and young adults, making wellness calls to seniors, and providing teleservices and virtual resources to teens in the YMCA Achievers program. In addition, the chapter’s virtual YMCA has more than 200 online classes for all ages. The YMCA believes everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive, regardless of age, income, or background. YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit has started a fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $100,000 to feed the community. The YMCA has served metropolitan Detroit for 168 years.
