Michigan Ability Partners, a nonprofit with locations in Ann Arbor and Jackson, works with veterans, the homeless, and people who have disabilities or face barriers to employment in support of their self-directed transformation to self-sufficiency. It owns and operates 44 units of affordable housing at seven sites in Washtenaw County and currently serves Jackson, Wayne, and Monroe counties. The organization offers housing, financial management, and employment services as well as a homeless veterans’ reintegration program. MAP’s housing staff meets regularly with participants to discuss daily living skills, increasing self-sufficiency and independence. It maintains housing stability for the chronically homeless by offering subsidized rent and long-term case management services, offers rapid re-housing that helps individuals experiencing homelessness quickly locate and obtain housing, provides short-term rental assistance, and offers financial assistance and other supportive services that helps individual veterans and families find stability in their new housing as they work toward financial independence.
