Located in Ann Arbor, Fisher House Michigan is a nonprofit organization that builds comfort homes where military and veteran families can stay free of charge while a loved one is in a nearby hospital. The organization has 91 homes located at military and VA medical centers around the world, and the newest is the VA Ann Arbor Fisher House, which opened in the spring of 2020 and supports families of patients at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. Fisher Houses are first-class facilities, beautifully designed, and well built. To pay for total construction costs and support the Ann Arbor and Detroit houses as well as the Fisher House manager, the organization has set a strategic goal of raising $20 million. The Detroit location is slated to open soon and will support families with loved ones at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center.
