Beyond Basics Coming Together for Children 2022

Beyond Basics, a nonprofit literacy organization, hosted its annual Coming Together for Children event on Friday, March 25, at the Detroit Athletic Club. The event raised $300,000 to help meet the organization’s goal of helping local students read at grade level, which paves the way to an equitable society by allowing children to access their education and pursue their dreams. The event honored Literacy Chair Award recipient Kathleen McCann; “Whatever It Takes” Award recipient The Wayne and Joan Webber Foundation; and The Jack Aronson Radiating Character Award, honoring the memory of the past Beyond Basics board chairman who passed away in 2021.
