Established in 1974, the Area Agency on Aging 1-B (AAA 1-B) in Southfield is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that supports older adults, people with disabilities, and family caregivers in southeast Michigan. The group helps people access the services and programs they need to remain living independently and with dignity in their own home or with family caregivers. The organization receives federal and state funding allocated to serve older adults and family caregivers in the six-county southeast Michigan service region, which includes Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, and Washtenaw counties.
