Redico, a national real estate development and investment firm in Southfield, has reached a deal with Plymouth Township that will allow the company to build a new 160,000-square-foot Meijer store on its commercial property.
This is the fourth collaboration between Redico and Meijer. The new store will be located on the south side of Five Mile Road and west of Beck Road.
“We are excited for Meijer to be an anchor for our new 87-acre V-Tech project, a mixed-use development, which will include amenities and commercial uses in the areas of high-tech industrial research and development, and life sciences,” says Dale Watchowski, president and CEO of Redico.
In June 2023, the state of Michigan approved $10 million for the Michigan International Technology Center (MITC) Five Mile Road Improvement Project, expected to begin this spring.
This project will include the reconstruction and widening of Five Mile Road, as well as the installation of new traffic signals. This construction, along with the store’s three entrances, should help smooth traffic flow for the development.
Redico and Meijer will pay for more than $20 million in environmental remediation and site cleanup on the site.
Additionally, Meijer will beautify the area with landscaping and greenspaces, as well as a bike and walking path. The property will include Meijer’s exterior LED lighting and high-definition video system, along with sustainability and design features that include EV charging stations and the implementation of other clean energy initiatives.
Meijer also will donate to Plymouth Township’s tree fund, which will support the purchase of more than 700 trees.
The store will offer a range of products, including fresh meat and produce, fresh bakery, full-service pharmacy, and pet department.
