Midas Foods International in Oak Park, which provides custom dry-blend solutions and culinary product development, has acquired Georgia Spice and The Doug Jeffords Co. Terms of the two deals were not disclosed.

Going forward, the two acquired companies will operate under a single brand, Creative Spiceworks, and be led by industry veterans John Connelly and Paul Hood.

Creative Spiceworks will focus on spices, seasoning blends, and delivering its products to a national customer base.

The new additions follows Midas Foods’ acquisition of J.M. Exotic Foods last December. The latter firm offers spices, seasonings, and specialty food products.

With the add-ons, Midas Foods states it is “better positioned to meet growing demand in the protein, meat processing, and snack food categories.’

The new additions deepens Midas Foods’ reach in the protein and snack segments while adding leadership and expertise, says Richard Elias, president of  Midas Foods International.

Georgia Spice and The Doug Jeffords Co. will continue under their existing leadership.

Moving ahead, Midas Foods will offer:

  • Culinary R&D: Access to a nationally recognized team of R&D chefs, which is expected to accelerate product innovation.
  • Food Technology: The latest tools and capabilities will be used to advance product quality, functionality, and efficiency.
  • Expanded Production Capacity: Greater blending capabilities and a wide range of packaging formats — from meal kit pouches and retail shakers to bulk options for restaurant chains and manufacturers.
  • Broader Product Portfolio: Deliver not only seasonings and spice blends, but also sauces, marinades, glazes, bakery blends, and custom dry culinary solutions in both savory and sweet (bakery, pastry dessert) formats.

The acquisitions, according to Midas Foods, are a major step toward the company’s mission to become “the premier culinary partner for food manufacturers, restaurant brands, and retailers (by) delivering innovative, chef-level custom dry-blend solutions in tailored package sizes — from sachets to retail formats to bulk.”

Midas Foods specializes in dry-blend culinary solutions, including sauces, gravies, seasonings, and desserts. The company works to develop custom solutions tailored to client needs for taste, packaging, ingredients, allergens, and a host of other product characteristics.
