LaFontaine Automotive Group in Highland Township has announced a strategic partnership with UVeye to deploy an advanced AI-powered vehicle inspection technology to its 43 dealership locations.

LaFontaine and UVeye’s “MRI for Cars” technology is available to drivers across Michigan, creating “the world’s first cross-state network of complimentary drive-through vehicle health scans.”

UVeye’s platform utilizes computer vision and deep learning to analyze in seconds tires, undercarriages, and car exteriors with 96 percent accuracy, according to LaFontaine..

The technology captures images of a vehicle so drivers can see exactly what’s wrong or needs fixing. In essence, it provides swift, transparent insights into the health and safety of a vehicle.

Founded in 1980, LaFontaine Automotive Group represents more than 60 automotive franchises in Michigan.

“Technology is fundamentally changing what customers should expect from their automotive experience, and we intend to lead that transformation,” says Ryan LaFontaine, CEO of LaFontaine Automotive Group. “Our partnership with UVeye is about creating a new standard for vehicle safety, transparency and trust across our statewide network.

“By making this technology complimentary and accessible throughout our 40-plus Michigan locations, we’re giving drivers greater insight into the health of their vehicles and the confidence to make informed decisions for themselves and their families. This is an investment in the future of automotive retail, the communities we serve, and the lifelong relationships we’re committed to building.”

With more than 1,000 systems deployed globally across dealerships, fleets, auctions, rental operations, and OEM logistics facilities, UVeye scans more than 3 million vehicles every month.

Its systems are trained on the industry’s largest proprietary database of vehicular components and defects, with billions of images analyzed annually. UVeye states its partners include Amazon, GM, and Volvo.

“This is much bigger than just deploying groundbreaking technology, it’s about changing how people think about (and monitor) their car’s health and safety,” says Amir Hever, co-founder and CEO of UVeye.

“Just as people routinely monitor their own health, every driver should have easy access to their vehicle’s vitals. Together with LaFontaine, we’re empowering drivers to understand the condition of their cars, making Michigan the first place in the world where everyone can receive a complimentary scan close to home.”

As part of the initiative, LaFontaine is inviting every Michigan driver, regardless of vehicle type or where it was purchased, to visit any participating LaFontaine dealership for a complimentary UVeye vehicle health scan and consultation.

Before heading out on a family road trip, buying or selling a used vehicle, handing over the keys to a teenager, evaluating an older vehicle, or after an accident, residents are encouraged to stop by and receive an objective assessment of their vehicle’s condition.
