Mexico-based JA Del Río is joining Plante Moran on July 1 in what the Southfield accounting firm is calling its largest international expansion to date.

The move, according to Plante Moran, is part of its strategy to enhance its global presence across Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. Terms of the collaboration were not disclosed.

Founded in 1988 in Guadalajara, Mexico, JA Del Río has “substantial” experience in audit, tax, and consulting services. Serving clients across five continents, the firm is said to help global businesses navigate international trade, tax, risk, and business growth with certainty and clarity.

“After having a presence in Mexico for nearly 20 years, we’re excited to expand Plante Moran’s presence in Latin America by welcoming JA Del Río into our firm,” says Jason Drake, managing partner of Plante Moran. “The firm’s values align with ours, with a focus on delivering high-quality client service, technical excellence, and deep expertise across industries and borders.

“JA Del Río has been a trusted collaborator of ours for years, and their addition marks an important step forward in our international growth.”

JA Del Río’s more than 500-member team across Mexico, Colombia, and Costa Rica will join Plante Moran’s existing Mexico team.

“We have partnered with Plante Moran for many years, and from day one, it was evident the values and client approach we share was a strategic advantage for our mutual clients,” says Bernardo Del Río, managing partner of JA Del Río. “This combination enhances how we serve clients in Mexico, Colombia, and Costa Rica, bringing additional depth and cross‑border capabilities while preserving the high standard of service they rely on.”

Together, the firms serve clients in manufacturing and distribution, service, health care, life sciences, private equity, financial services, real estate, construction, energy, and more.

“Our firms are closely aligned culturally, sharing people-first values, genuine humility, and a strong sense of responsibility,” says Alejandro Rodriguez, leader of Plante Moran Mexico. “I’m looking forward to welcoming the team at JA Del Río and working together to advance our shared vision for sustainable growth, operational excellence, and strong client relationships.”
