The Sartorius Group, a leading international partner of life science research and the biopharmaceutical industry in Göttingen, Germany, announced it will open a new flagship site in the Tech Loop at the Ann Arbor Research Park near I-94 and State Street.

The company has acquired more than 15 acres of land for an initial, 130,000-square-foot structure, which is projected to open by the end of 2023. The land also provides for a future expansion.

It is projected that 160 jobs will be created over three years, including product development, operations, and other support functions.

As demand for innovative biopharmaceutical technologies continues to grow, Sartorius says the Ann Arbor site will be integral to the company’s continued worldwide expansion. By 2025, the company expects to more than double the capacities for its key product groups.

The group’s lab product and services division concentrates on serving the needs of laboratories performing research and quality control at pharma and biopharma companies and those of academic research institutes.

The bioprocess solutions division, with a broad product portfolio, focuses on single-use solutions that help customers to manufacture biotech medications and vaccines safely and efficiently.

The group has grown by double digits annually and has been expanding its portfolio by acquisitions of complementary technologies. At the end of 2020, nearly 11,000 people were employed at Sartorius’ approximately 60 manufacturing and sales sites around the globe.
