The NTT IndyCar Series has confirmed that the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear again will be run during its traditional post-Indianapolis 500 weekend (May 29-31) in 2026 on the streets of downtown Detroit.
Next year’s event will mark the 36th Grand Prix weekend in Detroit’s history and the fourth utilizing the current downtown street course.
The three-day event will once again feature racing, music, and family activities in downtown Detroit, according to organizers who say they expect build on the 2025 edition.
Approximately 156,000 people came to downtown Detroit over the three-day weekend, representing a 4 percent increase in total attendance from both 2023 and 2024.
According to Nielsen ratings, the NTT IndyCar Series race broadcast from Detroit on Sunday, June 1, delivered an average audience of 1.061 million viewers across the FOX network and FOX streaming services, which represented a 75 percent increase from the 2024 race broadcast and marked the highest viewership for the Detroit Grand Prix since 2021.
“With the NTT IndyCar Series, as well as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, both returning to the downtown Detroit street circuit (in 2026), it’s going to be another memorable weekend on track for fans and we look forward to adding even more fun and excitement off the track as well for people to enjoy over the course of the three-day event,” says Michael Montri, president of the Detroit Grand Prix.
The 2026 schedule announcement also confirms that FOX will again broadcast all of the action from the 2026 Detroit Grand Prix on the FOX network and across the FOX streaming services.
The 2025 Detroit race ranked as the fourth-highest rated race broadcast in FOX’s inaugural season serving as the exclusive television broadcast partner, trailing the Indianapolis 500, the opening race of the season in St. Petersburg, and the season finale in Nashville.
Locally, Detroit also ranked as the top market across the United States for the Sunday, June 1 race broadcast, drawing a 3.04 rating and a 14.25 share on FOX 2 Detroit.
Ticket renewals for the 2026 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear are expected to begin later this fall.
