AmeriPro Health, an Atlanta-based patient logistics and last-mile health care delivery provider, has acquired Rapid Response EMS, a full-service EMS provider headquartered in Romulus. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The transaction establishes a new operating hub for the company in the Great Lakes region.
AmeriPro says it is immediately upgrading Rapid Response’s fleet with 18 new state-of-the-art ambulances that will serve Detroit and five other communities. All 200 of Rapid Response employees now are part of the AmeriPro brand, including the company’s entire leadership team. AmeriPro also is aggressively launching a hiring campaign to bring more jobs and opportunities to paramedics and EMTs in the state of Michigan.
The move enables AmeriPro to deploy its logistics network and proprietary AI and data platform across the hospital footprint Rapid Response currently services, helping identify and eliminate bottlenecks, decrease ambulance response times, and optimize the overall patient experience.
“While evaluating the framework of a potential merger, it quickly became apparent that AmeriPro possessed the capital and technology that was needed to take our patient-focused mission to the next level,” says Tommy Widmer, CEO of Rapid Response EMS. “The name and logo on our ambulance fleet is changing, but the values and commitment to excellence that enabled our company to reach this point will continue to live on. Our team members have been taken care of, and we’re excited to get to work as we move forward under the AmeriPro banner.”
Rapid Response has provided EMS services for metro Detroit since 2004 and currently operates a fleet of 26 ambulances. The integration of the two organizations is expected to create a “strong, dynamic presence” in Detroit’s EMS market.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Rapid Response’s highly skilled and dedicated team of professionals into the AmeriPro family,” says Larry Richardson, chief business officer at AmeriPro Health. “There was a lot of natural synergy between our two teams thanks to shared values and culture, and the addition of the resources and capabilities AmeriPro brings to the table will add value to the existing operation already in place.”
According to AmeriPro, its new Detroit hub creates a regional launching pad as it explores other expansion opportunities in nearby states like Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and beyond.
