University of Michigan Private Equity Conference Comes to Ann Arbor Nov. 17-18

Organizers of the University of Michigan’s 18th annual Private Equity Conference have announced the event will kick off on Nov. 17 with an evening reception at University of Michigan’s Golf Course in Ann Arbor hosted by Women in Private Equity.

The Michigan Private Equity Conference will take place on Nov. 18 at the University of Michigan Union.

Hosted by the Center for Venture Capital and Private Equity Finance at the Ross School of Business, the University of Michigan Private Equity conference attracts hundreds of private equity and institutional finance professionals annually to connect and hear from the nation’s top thought leaders and deal makers. The event is sponsored by Honigman and AON.

“The purpose of our conference is to connect private equity professionals though interaction, learning, and the sharing divergent points of view from around the country,” says David Brophy, professor of finance and director of the Center for Venture Capital and Private Equity Finance.

“The investors and business leaders who attend our events end up finding common ground and doing deals together that improve the economic environment in Michigan, the Midwest, and beyond.”

Topics on the agenda for this year’s conference include a panel on secondaries transactions moderated by Gary P. Blitz, global co-CEO of Aon M&A and Transaction Solutions. Darren Black, managing partner at Summit Partners will present on capital market conditions in life sciences and health care.

Robert O’Sullivan, managing partner at Comvest Credit Partners, will share perspectives on lending to private equity firms. Ted Kramer, president of Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney will discuss growth capital and buyout private-style equity. The final panel, moderated by Brian Gimotty, president of Growth Capital Partners, will explore issues and opportunities facing LP’s and GPs.

The cocktail reception will be hosted by the Women in Private Equity on Nov. 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the University of Michigan Golf Course Richard Postma Family Clubhouse.
