Against the backdrop of the recent passage of the One Big Beautiful Act, which provides an additional $150 billion in defense spending, the 17th annual Ground Vehicle Systems Engineering and Technology Symposium will take place next month in Novi.
The defense symposium, known as GVSETS and hosted by the NDIA Michigan Chapter, returns as the nation’s largest event focused solely on military ground vehicle innovation.
The event, to be held Aug. 12-14 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, will bring together U.S. Army leaders, warfighters, defense suppliers and strategists, policymakers, engineers, and academic researchers from across the country.
More than 3,000 attendees will hear exclusive modernization updates from senior officials with U.S. Army TACOM in Warren, PEO GCS, PEO CS&CSS, NGCV CTF, DEVCOM GVSC, and ACC-Detroit Arsenal (also in Warren).
The symposium will explore game-changing technologies, and attendees can engage directly with decision-makers driving billion-dollar military programs.
GVSETS also provides an opportunity for organizations to submit technical white papers and present research that addresses real Army capability gaps. Topics include autonomy, AI, digital engineering, MOSA, M&S, additive manufacturing, materials, power, human performance, and contested and predictive logistics.
In addition, the symposium will include next-generation military ground systems, autonomy, and survivability technologies, a first look at the Army Modernization Strategy, and keynote presentations from DEVCOM GVSC leadership, TACOM, Army Futures Command, and the Congressional Defense Panel — intelligence not shared at other venues.
There also will be live discussions around engineering, procurement, and innovation that allows attendees to connect with technology developers directly tied to military needs.
As home to GVSC, TACOM, and the country’s largest defense mobility corridor, the symposium organizers state Michigan is where the military, industry, and research converge.
“If you want to understand where the Army is headed — and where opportunity is being created nationwide — GVSETS is the event,” says Valde Garcia, president of the NDIA Michigan Chapter. “It’s the intersection of military needs, advanced tech, and the people building the future.”
