Troy-based Plex Systems, which provides cloud-based applications for the manufacturing industry, has acquired DemandCaster, a cloud-based supply chain planning solutions company in Rolling Meadows, Ill. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

With the addition of DemandCaster, Plex Systems will now deliver a full suite of connected cloud applications focused on enterprise resource, supply chain planning, and manufacturing execution.

The applications, which can be integrated with third-party equipment, will provide the company’s customers with tools for collecting manufacturing data, master production scheduling, sales and operations planning, demand planning, and more.

“Adding DemandCaster’s proven capabilities to the Plex Manufacturing Cloud opens up a whole new era in connected manufacturing,” says Jim Shepherd, group vice president of strategy for Plex Systems. “Customers will be able to see a real-time change in demand, evaluate alternative responses, and coordinate rescheduled production or procurement all within a single application, anywhere in the world.”

Prior to the acquisition, Plex Systems, which works with more than 500 companies in the manufacturing industry, had partnered with DemandCaster for more than a year.
