Portfolio Company of Birmingham’s Strength Capital Acquires Missouri Firm

R/W Specialties, a portfolio company of Strength Capital Partners in Birmingham, has completed the acquisition of the assets and merging of operations of America Building Products, based in Jefferson City, Mo. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

America Building Products is a distributor of interior and exterior doors, windows, cabinets, hardware, and millwork. It operates in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Arkansas.

R/W Specialties is a wholesale distributor of specialty building products serving a customer base located throughout the west. Headquartered in Denver, the company has operations in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and Wyoming.

“This is a unique opportunity to combine R/W’s purchasing strengths in providing specialty building products with ABP’s millwork expertise,” says Mark McCammon, co-founder and managing partner at Strength Capital.

Rob McCrae, CEO of R/W Specialties, says the partnership will expand additional product offerings and services to help both businesses realize synergies.

Additionally, Jen Brooks, COO of America Building Products, adds: “R/W is the ideal partner for ABP as we continue to bring our capabilities across the United States. Our shared resources and combined operations will allow us to better serve both our customers’ needs.”

Strength Capital was founded in 2000 and has since invested more than $500 million and completed more than 70 deals across 28 portfolio companies. It has sold more than $1.3 billion in total enterprise value.
