After years of planning and construction, Motorsports Gateway Howell reports its new 1.7-mile South Circuit is now open for members.
Motorsports Gateway Howell is the first phase of a 273-acre motorsports-anchored, mixed-use district. It is located adjacent to I-96’s westbound lanes, east of Michigan Avenue, and west of Lucy Road.
The South Circuit features premium multi-layer asphalt, Armco guardrails, and tire barriers, a digital LED marshalling system, and CCTV monitoring.
The purpose-built road course, designed for Drivers Club members to drive, develop skills, and connect with a community of automotive enthusiasts year-round, offers 13 turns, 133 feet of elevation change, and a one-half-mile straightaway where top speeds can reach 150 mph, according Motorsports Gateway Howell.
“We set out to create a place where driving can be a regular part of someone’s life, not just something they experience a few weekends a year,” says Jordan Dier, co-founder and CEO of Motorsports Gateway Howell. “Seeing our members on the track is an incredible moment for all of us.”
Prospective members don’t have to wait until spring. Those joining for the 2027 season can begin using their membership immediately, weather permitting, with no annual dues charged for the remainder of 2026. A limited number of new Lifetime Memberships are also available for 2027.
Site tours are open for those wanting to see the South Circuit and explore the Garage Condo development. The initial phase calls for 68 trackside Garage Condos.
The South Circuit is the first stage of Phase 1 development at Motorsports Gateway Howell. The track reported a year ago the following updates:
— Winter 2023: Construction operations begin with land clearing.
— Summer 2023: Major earth moving operations begin; rough grading and fine grading completion.
— Summer 2024: Placement of South Circuit sub-base material completed; vertical garage condominium construction begins.
— Fall 2024: AJAX mobilization and asphalt base course paving begins.
— Summer 2025: South Circuit base course completed. Track safety system installation begins.
— Fall 2025: Drivers Club member soft-open sessions commences.
