Max Mara, an Italian luxury style company, will be taking over the Somerset Collection Studio at the Metropolitan Building in downtown Detroit Oct. 8-24 to celebrate the brand’s 70th anniversary with the fall/winter 2021 collection.
The Fall/Winter 2021 collection will be featured at the Studio alongside special edition 70th anniversary merchandise. The space is located on the first floor of the Element at The Metropolitan, at 33 John R St., just east of Woodward Avenue.
Guests to Somerset Collection Studio can shop signature pieces from Max Mara’s 70th anniversary campaign from the coveted Teddy Coat to luxurious knitwear and accessories. The boutique will also feature Max Mara’s anniversary T-shirt collection, which showcases artists who worked with Max Mara or incorporated the brand’s designs in their work, like William Wegman’s celebrated photographs of the elegant Weimaraner dogs wearing the Max Mara 101801 camel coat.
Anyone who visits the pop-up will be entered into a weekly raffle to win a handbag. Guests who make a purchase will be entered and receive a commemorative anniversary accessory. Visitors to the Aloft hotel at the David Whitney Building or Element at The Metropolitan will receive $100 towards any $500 purchase.
The Somerset Collection Studio was announced in late 2019 to marry the convenience of online with the experience of inline retail, allowing downtown residents, visitors, and workers one-of-a-kind experiences with brands while providing access to shopping any one of Somerset Collection’s retailers.
Since its launch, the studio has presented two experiential installations during winter 2020 and spring 2021, bringing together looks from global designers with displays by local artisans and collaborations with neighboring restaurants.
For the first time, visitors will have a in line shopping experience that will allow them to leave the studio with their purchases in a Max Mara shopping bag.
