M1 Concourse in Pontiac is launching an all-new event series with the debut of M1 Burnout – Test & Tune Drag Racing on Saturday, Aug. 22.

The new event is designed to give automotive enthusiasts the opportunity to experience legal drag racing on M1Concourse’s 1/8-mile drag strip.

“M1 Burnout represents an exciting addition to what we can offer the automotive community at M1 Concourse,” says Paul Zlotoff, owner and CEO of M1 Concourse. “The new drag strip gives us an opportunity to create an entirely different experience for enthusiasts who want to test the performance of their vehicles. We designed M1 Burnout to be accessible, exciting, and focused on giving both racers and spectators another way to experience motorsports at M1.”

Unlike traditional bracket racing, the event will not include brackets or eliminations, giving drivers the opportunity to make multiple passes throughout the event. The debut event is open to drivers aged 18 and older with a valid driver’s license. Street-legal vehicles that meet event requirements and pass a safety inspection are eligible to participate. Early registration is recommended.

Safety will remain a priority throughout the event, according to M1. All drivers are required to wear a Snell SA2015 or newer certified helmet and attend a mandatory driver meeting 30 minutes before racing begins. Drivers who do not attend the meeting will not be permitted to race.

Racer registration is $125 and includes admission for the driver and up to four crew members traveling in the tow or race vehicle. General admission spectator tickets are $20, and children age 12 and younger are admitted free. In addition to watching the racing, spectators can enjoy food trucks and activities.

Additional M1 Burnout events are planned for Sept. 3 and Oct. 22.
