LaFontaine Automotive Group in Highland Township is planning to open new Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) dealerships in Ann Arbor and Lansing in April, and additional facilities across Michigan by mid-2026.
The LaFontaine Automotive Group, founded in 1980 by Michael and Maureen LaFontaine, now includes 58 retail franchises, eight collision centers, and 42 Michigan retail locations. The group employs nearly 3,000 individuals.
“We are thrilled to join Mitsubishi at such a pivotal time in its rebirth across the United States,” says Ryan LaFontaine, CEO of the LaFontaine Automotive Group. “The opening of our Ann Arbor and Lansing locations mark the beginning of an exciting journey, with more locations to follow as we grow alongside the brand.
“Mitsubishi Motors fills an important gap in our portfolio, allowing us to offer even more diverse and compelling options to our customers. At LaFontaine Automotive Group, we are committed to delivering an exceptional guest experience, and we look forward to bringing that same passion and dedication to our Mitsubishi dealerships as we expand our partnership.”
Both LaFontaine’s Ann Arbor and Lansing Mitsubishi Motors facilities are expected to bring attention to the brand’s full lineup of SUVs and plug-in hybrids, highlighted by the just-released new 2025 Outlander SUV.
The La Fontaine announcement is part of MMNA’s Momentum 2030 long-range U.S. business plan, which includes paths to electrification, an expanded product lineup, a modernized retail sales model, and network expansion and sales growth.
