Detroit Rock City is heading to downtown Royal Oak in 2026 as Rock & Brews Restaurant and Concert Bar, a national restaurant concept started by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS, will be opening this spring at 208 West Fifth Ave.
The three-story space, formerly home to HopCat, will offer an immersive rock and roll experience, amplified by classic food and drinks.
“We’re excited to bring a Rock & Brews Restaurant and Concert Bar to Detroit Rock City,” says Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons in a joint statement. “We’ve all worked hard collaborating as a team to create Rock & Brews destinations we could be proud to share with the community, and that is without a doubt what we will do for our newest location in Royal Oak.”
The new Rock & Brews Restaurant and Concert Bar will feature three floors — level one is the main dining area; level two is a live concert stage and bar; and level three is an open-air rooftop Sky Lounge with a DJ.
The approximately 12,000-square-foot restaurant also will feature more than 30 TVs and a 16-foot state-of-the-art LED screen for an immersive viewing experience for sports and entertainment, along with private dining rooms and meeting rooms.
“Our team is incredibly excited to bring Rock & Brews to downtown Royal Oak,” says Tony Yezbick, co-owner of Rock & Brews with his brother, Danny, along with other private investors. “Partnering with the legendary Paul and Gene, we are focused on delivering a proven concept that blends high-quality food, standout drinks, and an atmosphere rooted in great music.”
The menu will feature scratch-made American classics, signature “rocktails,” local and craft beers on tap, plus weekend brunch.
Selections offered at other locations include garlic parm fries, mean street nachos, tuna poke nachos, a variety of wings, a number of salads, blackened salmon zoodle, craft burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, grilled chimichurri steak, pot pie rhapsody, and more.
In addition to Stanley and Simmons, the Rock & Brews team includes CEO Adam Goldberg, entrepreneur, restaurateur, and hotelier Michael Zislis; as well as concert industry veterans Dave and Dell Furano.
The team opened the first Rock & Brews near LAX Airport in southern California in 2010. Since then, it has expanded to include more than 20 locations in California, Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin, with more locations coming soon.
The restaurant currently is hiring for all positions, including shift lead, servers, bartenders, sous chef, lead cook, host, expediters, food runners, dishwashers, bussers, and more. To apply, email RoyalOak@RockAndBrews.com.
