Great Lakes Segway in Walled Lake, Michigan’s only Segway dealership, today announced it has acquired Segway of Central Florida in Mount Dora, near Orlando, the first dealership Great Lakes has added to its network. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Great Lakes Segway was founded in 2010 and alongside selling Segway machines, offers authorized repair — one of only three centers in the country with that designation. The Florida dealership, which also performs authorized repairs, sells and services Segway’s, Ninebots, and Trikkes.
“This was a natural fit for what we have already been doing and leverages our expertise in Segway and electric personal mobility sales, service, and support, and allows us to bring Pedego electric bikes to the area,” says John E. Smith, founder of Great Lakes Segway.
Smith also owns Pedego Walled Lake, which offers a variety of e-bikes for recreational and commercial use.
Segway Central Florida offer sales of the full suite of Segway products, including the full lineup of Ninebot products and repairs of Segway machines, serving all of Florida and beyond through an EZ Ship repair program.
Clients include current and new Segway owners, tour companies in greater Orlando and the Southeast, as well as area police departments, convention centers, universities, and recreational and entertainment companies.
With the acquisition, Smith says his goal is to continue building a personal mobility business that offers outdoor recreation opportunities to consumers, businesses, and public entities.
Great Lakes Segway is located at 239 E. Walled Lake Dr. in Walled Lake and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Segway of Central Florida is located at 430 N. Alexander St. in Mount Dora, Fla., and is open Monday through Friday and Saturdays by appointment.
