The $1.6 million investment in Eastern Michigan University’s cybersecurity program in Ypsilanti made in 2023 by GameAbove, a privately held global investment company, appears to be paying off.
The contribution is helping equip students with the skills and ability needed to combat cyber threats and protect critical systems worldwide. Since the program began in 2005, 700 students have graduated from the program, with near 100 percent job placement.
EMU students with cybersecurity degrees start their careers at companies such as Google, Amazon, CrowdStrike, General Electric, Cisco, SensCy, Snapchat, Bosch, Textron, Judy Security, and others. In addition, EMU’s online cybersecurity master’s program ranks among the top affordable programs for 2025 by Cybersecurity Guide’s.
“GameAbove’s interest in the school’s Cybersecurity program is unwavering,” says Keith J. Stone, founder and chairman of GameAbove. “We recognize the threats to our country and citizens, so anything we can do to help prepare bright young minds to fend off those dangers is worth our financial commitment.”

EMU says it is one of the few institutions globally that offers comprehensive cybersecurity education, from undergraduate and graduate programs and a Ph.D. concentration.
“The institution has built a reputation for excellence in fields such as education, aviation, and psychology,” Stone adds. “Now, the engineering and technology programs are also gaining national recognition.”
