Diptyque, a French luxury fragrance and design house, has brought its Parisian heritage to metro Detroit with the opening of a new store at the Somerset Collection in Troy.

The new boutique’s design is inspired by a Parisian apartment. Beneath its frontage in the fashion house’s iconic green, visitors will see a space filled with concrete columns that are designed to serve as a reminder of Detroit’s industrial past.

The store is located on Level 1 in Somerset Collection North, near the Macy’s/Capital Grille parking lot.

Scattered throughout the boutique, visitors will find decorative objects and candleholders with designs that are meant to be timeless as well as showing off the work of many different artisans.

In the rear of the store, there is a light-refracting sculpture in the shape of a large and colorful disc. The store is furnished with oak shelves. There also are chairs by the Friends of Form studio in Brooklyn, N.Y. The studio is known for its minimalist designs, and they will be around a fireplace.

There also are organic-shaped tables and a brick-red hand-woven carpet by Nordic Knots. The eaux de toilette and eaux de parfum can be found on an oak table.

Diptyque’s history goes back to 1961. The company produces eaux de parfum, eaux de toilette, scented candles, and perfume oil diffusers. The original boutique still operates at the original location in Paris, and the brand has boutiques in London, Tokyo, New York, Hong Kong, Dubai, Milan, Beverly Hills, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Seoul, and Chicago.  The name comes from ancient Greek, meaning a two-panel image.
