Jay Farner, former CEO of Rockets Cos. and today founder of Ronin Capital Partners in Birmingham, will open The Franklin Oyster Bar & Eatery on June 10.
After extensive renovations to the historic structure built in 1848 in Franklin Village, the restaurant will host a series of soft openings in the coming weeks.
The Franklin is led by Executive Chef Nick Geftos, and Gerti Begaj, who oversees the hospitality program. The pair are part of the team behind BESA downtown Detroit.
“The Franklin offers an inviting dining experience that goes beyond seafood,” says Geftos. “While fresh seafood like our raw oyster bar is a highlight, the menu also features premium steaks, pasta, burgers, expertly crafted dishes, and an elevated weekend brunch.”
In the coming weeks, a series of soft openings will allow the new staff to get acclimated before the official public opening.
Farner acquired the property in 2024, and Nicole McGrail led the design, concept, and restoration of the historic red carriage house through Thyme and Place Hospitality, the newly formed hospitality division of Ronin Capital Partners.
“From the local merchants and business owners to the fire department, engineers, and so many others, the support and collaboration have been incredible,” says McGrail, chief marketing officer of Thyme and Place Hospitality and head of design for The Franklin..
McGrail says Thyme and Place Hospitality will soon launch Polly’s, a neighborhood café directly next door to The Franklin at 32750 Franklin Rd.
Polly’s will offer a selection of pastries, sandwiches, salads, charcuterie, handcrafted ice cream, and freshly brewed coffee.
