The 38th annual EyesOn Design, the Father’s Day tradition at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, will take place June 15 and honor British vehicle designer Ian Callum.

The event, which supports the work of the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology, will present Callum with the 2025 EyesOn Design Lifetime Design Achievement Award at the Vision Honored Gala at Michigan Central Station in Detroit on June 13.

Callum has worked at Ford Motor Co., Tom Walkinshaw Racing, Aston Martin, and Jaguar and has been responsible for many of the most beautiful cars of the modern era, according to many. He was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to the British car industry.

The gala will include a special tribute to EyesOn Design founder Dr. Philip C. Hessburg.

The Sunday car show will present a collection of more than 200 vehicles from the past, present, and future, relating periods in the history of art with periods in the history of automotive design. This year’s theme is The Art of Design.

Unlike Concours d’Elegance events, judging is predominately conducted by automotive designers using professional design criteria, not based on restoration or authenticity. The event attracts some of the world’s leading designers, collectors, and fans.

Also unique among car shows, one class of cars is judged by a group called the Visionaries — blind and visually impaired judges donning white gloves and evaluating the vehicles only by touch. The Visionaries represent the mission upon which EyesOn Design was originally conceived.

EyesOn Design has raised millions of dollars to support the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology, a division of the Henry Ford Health Department of Ophthalmology.

In addition to the Vision Honored gala and the Sunday car show, several other events surround EyesOn Design. They include:

  • Cars & Coffee, June 7, between 8-11 a.m. at the Grosse Pointe Woods City Hall (20025 Mack Plaza)
  • A media preview on June 10 at the Ford House.
  • The June 13 EyesOn Design Driving Tour, a 75-mile tour of southeastern Michigan followed by lunch and an auto-enthusiasts tour at a surprise destination.
  • Private Eyes Brunch, June 15, at the Ford House (Reservations required).
