Northville to Host Concours d’Elegance This Weekend
The Northville Concours d’Elegance presented by Hagerty Insurance will be taking place this weekend at the Mill Race Historical Village (215 Griswold St.) in Northville.
The event will commence on Saturday, July 22, with a Cars and Coffee event that will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a noon tour of the Mill Race Historic Village. The day will conclude at 2 p.m.
On Sunday, July 23, more than 80 of the finest automobiles will be on display on the grounds of the historic site. This year, the event is featuring the Mendelson Collection of automobiles among a field of other specialty, exotic, and historically significant automobiles.
The ticketed event is open to the public beginning at 10 a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m.
In conjunction with Hagerty Insurance, Northville Concours d’Elegance has developed a first-of-its-kind immersive youth judging program. The program was created to foster the passion for automobiles with the next generation of automotive leaders, enthusiasts, and industry professionals.
Judging applications are available for those 18 and younger here. All guests aged 18 and under are admitted free.
Adult tickets for the July 23 concours are available here. Presale tickets will be offered at a reduced rate of $15. Tickets purchased the day of the event are $20.

MSU Federal Credit Union Announces Plans to Expand with Five in Chicago Branches
MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) in East Lansing has announced plans to open five branches in Chicago in 2024, marking a major expansion for Michigan’s second-largest credit union.

Dr. Kathleen Yaremchuk, chair of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery for the Henry Ford Medical Group, has established the Kathleen Yaremchuk, M.D. Endowed Chair in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Research.
The fund will be used to support translational research that not only advances patient care but teaches the next generation of physicians — reinforcing the department’s long tradition of innovation and education. Yaremchuk says she envisions the endowed chair offering the best and brightest in the field an opportunity to make a change in the way treatment is delivered — personalizing the care patients receive and improving outcomes.

Born in Detroit, Jay’s Juniors Collaborate on Apparel Line
Jay’s Juniors, a program founded by radio personality Jay Towers that takes children and their families who are dealing with life-altering or life-threatening conditions to Disney World, has announced a collaboration with Michigan-owned-and-operated Born in Detroit Apparel to launch a line of apparel.
A portion of proceeds from this limited-edition line will benefit Jay’s Juniors. It will only be available until July 31 at www.BornInDetroit.store.
The limited-edition apparel is cobranded for Born in Detroit and Jay’s Juniors and features a variety of options for children and adults including sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, t-shirts, tank top, flat bill, trucker, and snapback hats, duffel bags, and beach towels.
Founded in 2014, Jay’s Juniors is a program that has provided hundreds of sick children over the years with a memorable family vacation during the holiday season, that is all made possible through corporate donations.
Michigan Science Center Expands Early Child Learning Space
The Michigan Science Center’s (Mi-Sci) Early Child Learning Space has been expanded to include new activities for kids under the age of five.
The enclosed Level 1 area is designed specifically for Mi-Sci’s youngest visitors and their caregivers to engage them with STEM concepts that stimulate their senses and foster developing minds.
“We want to inspire exploration, discovery, and a love of science for guests of all ages, including our youngest learners,” says Christian Greer, president and CEO of Mi-Sci. “Our new early learning space puts preschool-aged children at the center of science using engaging activities that stimulate young minds and introduce basic STEM concepts at age-appropriate levels.”
Some of the activities include building materials and interactive components that teach basic concepts of light and outer space. The Early Child Learning Space also features STEM Story Time with a weekly rotating book about science geared toward young children. STEM Story Time takes place at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays every week.
The space also hosts Mi-Sci’s Young Explorers program, a weekly series of themed classes designed for young children hosted on alternating Wednesdays and Sundays. These classes incorporate elements of literacy, social-emotional learning, play, pattern-recognition and improving motor skills to engage young children in the world of science and design. Recent themes have included lessons on magnets, water, the human brain, and robots.
The Early Child Learning Space is included in Mi-Sci’s general admission tickets, available at mi-sci.org. Mi-Sci is located at 5020 John R. St. in Midtown and is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday and until 8 p.m. the first Friday of every month.
