Michigan Central in Corktown Detroit has named Continental in Sterling Heights as its exclusive catering partner for events hosted at Michigan Central Station, including food and beverage, catering, and event services.
Continental’s private hospitality group is home to two of Michigan’s catering brands — Forte Belanger and Two Unique Catering. Together, the brands support events across venues and institutions throughout Michigan.
“This partnership reflects our ability to support events of every scale,” says Charlie Millerwise, president of dining and hospitality at Continental.
Since reopening in June 2024 following a six-year restoration led by Ford Motor Co., The Station has hosted corporate, civic, nonprofit, and cultural events, many of which were already supported by Continental’s private hospitality brands.
“When people host an event at The Station, we want the hospitality to be just as memorable as the building itself,” says Mya Robinson, head of events and visitor engagement at Michigan Central. “Bringing Continental on board allows us to offer our clients a higher standard of service from start to finish.”
As exclusive catering partner, Continental will support a wide range of programming, from smaller gatherings to weddings and large-scale celebrations. Forte Belanger brings award-winning culinary expertise and the execution of regional events, while Two Unique expands the partnership’s flexibility across formats and service needs.
“The demand to host events at The Station has been incredible since we opened our doors,” says Michael Kalt, chief commercial officer at Michigan Central. “Partnering with Continental allows us to scale our operations and keep up with that momentum.”
The partnership is specific to events hosted at The Station. Forte Belanger and Two Unique Catering will continue to serve weddings, fundraisers, social events, and corporate functions throughout Michigan, maintaining their longstanding regional presence.
It is believed NoMad Hotels, a luxury brand of the Hilton hotel chain that will occupy the top five floors and the west side of the main level of the renovated train station starting in 2027, will handle its food and beverage services.
NoMad Detroit will offer nearly 180 guestrooms, including 30 suites, on the upper floors, marking the first time in the building’s history that floors 14-18 will be occupied. Hotel guests also will have access to luxury wellness facilities and additional amenities.
