Boyne Mountain, which operates multiple resorts in northern Michigan, has announced a range of upgrades and new experiences for the 2024/25 winter season.
In addition to increased snowmaking power ensuring optimal conditions and the return of “Lights in the Sky” on SkyBridge Michigan, adventurers can enjoy enhanced glade skiing, a revitalized Team Boyne racing program, and reservable cabanas at Avalanche Bay.
Plus, there’s new craft beverage collaborations and direct-to-tech rental equipment.
Boyne Mountain is upgrading its snowmaking capabilities with the addition of eight new SMI full-auto Super PoleCat snow guns, six of which will be dedicated to the Victor slope.
The investment allows the resort to kick off the ski season earlier and extend it well into the spring. Inspired by Vermont’s legendary King of Spring, Boyne Mountain is creating the “Victor Glacier,” with its newly added firepower ensuring late season turns on this signature blue run for experienced skiers and riders.
The remaining two PoleCats are being installed on the resort’s Tubing Hill, which should be ready before the holiday season. New this winter, visitors to the Tubing Hill also can enjoy sliding to the beat with synchronized music and LED lighting displays.
In addition, the resort has reclaimed more than 60 Boyne Low-E snow guns for deployment across the slopes to continuously refresh surface conditions providing optimal skiing throughout the season.
Returning for its second year, the Lights in the Sky display promises to be bigger, brighter, and more dazzling. Illuminating SkyBridge Michigan with a stunning array of lights.
Available from Nov. 1 through April 30, 2025, Lights in the Sky features more than 100,000 twinkling lights strewn across the world’s longest timber-towered suspension bridge.
SkyBridge Michigan is a 1,200-foot long, 118-foot high pedestrian bridge positioned between two peaks, McLouth and Disciples Ridge, overlooking Boyne Valley.
Rounding out the experience, guests can also enjoy hot drinks, Polish food, the ambiance of an outdoor gas fire, and more. Tickets include a chairlift ride, plus unlimited day and evening bridge crossing.
Resort lodging guests receive $5 off per ticket, and all visitors can buy online in advance to save on tickets and go direct to the lift.
Boyne Mountain also is unveiling nearly 18 acres of fresh, glade terrain this season within the Disciples Ridge area. Hop on the Disciples 8 chairlift to access this new glade terrain nestled between Grice’s Way and Zippie’s. The area offers gentle slopes for beginners to more challenging, tighter multi-pitch runs.
Together with The Highlands, Boyne Mountain has announced the launch of Team Boyne, a comprehensive ski program that brings together the best of Boyne Flyers, Boyne Racing, and the Northern Michigan Ski Academy.
The merger represents a significant step forward in a commitment to providing the highest quality ski training and development opportunities for young athletes. Included in the range of programs is a Junior Race Program for ages 6 to 14, a Competition Race Program for ages 10 to 21, and an all-new Freestyle Program for ages 7 to 14.
In turn, park goers to Avalanche Bay can now elevate their experience with newly enhanced, reservable cabanas offering a “home base” for relaxation and gathering between aquatic adventures.
By renting a cabana for the day, guests will receive access to an exclusive space with flat-screen TV and cushioned seating, as well as two double tubes, a medium locker, four premium towels, and personalized food and beverage service. Each cabana also comes with a cooler stocked with complimentary waters (a new streamlined QR code check-in process is being offered, as well).
There’s also a variety of new and existing beverage collaborations this winter season, including:
- Alpine Amber, a rich, flavorful American Amber Lager brewed by Short’s Brewing Company
- Everett’s IPA, a crisp, lightly hopped IPA brewed by Petoskey Brewing
- SkyBridge Seltzer, pure Michigan artesian spring water flavored with cherry and lime, brewed by Petoskey Brewing
- Timber-Towered Bourbon, a smooth spirit collaboration with locally produced Foggy Mountain Spirits featuring three seasonal labels
- Chalet Edelweiss Claret, bottled by Donati Family Vineyards and available exclusively at Boyne Mountain
A new direct-to-tech rental equipment process at Boyne Mountain, meanwhile, allows guests to book online and pick up their gear seamlessly, ensuring more time on the slopes and less time waiting. After making an online rental purchase, guests can show their confirmation email with QR code to a rental tech to sign off on equipment.
